Stress In The Work Place

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Stress is part of our lives. but many just live with it
instead of doing something about it.

The work place has lots of stress. If you have a
belligerent boss and you need your job, it seems
necessary for you to live with stress.

When the boss asks you to do a report and you
are swamped, here are a few ways to get some
help with the project.

First if its not your subject area, try to get the
assignment to someone with more knowledge.
You can say, I don’t really know as much about
“X” as John, who is the office expect on that,
or do you think it would be better to use John’s
experience on that subject for the assignment?
You can use this tip for a few times, but be
sure you don’t use this too often or the boss
may see you as someone without any talents.

Another tip, I’m working on assignment,A,B and
C. Do you want me to stop work on them to do
this assignment now? Sometimes the boss may
forget what you have been assigned.

If you don’t know your boss very well you can
say, I’m working on assignment A and B, can I
have John help me? This way you aren’t backing
out, just asking for help.

Some times just asking for help will relief some
of work load and decrease the pressure on you.

If have other things to help you ease the work
load leave your ideas below.

The Modern Day Plagues - Stress, Depression, and Anxiety

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Just like the Black Plague of the Middle Ages, the
Modern Day Plagues affect people of all all ages and
in all walks of life. Our fast paced society is a breeding
ground for stress, depression and anxiety!

Turn on the Tv and you will be bombarded with
commercials for pills to stop depression, pills to help
relieve your shyness, and drinks “to pep” you up so
you can work faster and longer. The modern day
remedy is “take a magic bullet” and the world will
be all right.

If this is such great stuff, why are we having kids
shooting up their schools, and workers shooting up
the work place? How many crimes are contributed to
depression? A mother kills her children, or someone
shoots their ex-lover because they were depressed.

Sure drugs have a place: however its society abuse
of the drugs that causes the problem. We have come
to expect to be handed a “magic bullet” and things will
be all right. The problem is things aren’t all right. The
magic bullets aren’t working against the
Modern Day Plagues.
