How To Manage Office Stress
Wednesday, June 4th, 2008How to manage office stress the polite way
When the boss asks you to do a report and you are
swamped here are a few ways to manage to get
some Stress relief.
First if its not really your area, try to get the
report given to someone in that area. You can say,
I don’t really know as much about that as John
does. He is the office expert in that subject, do you
think you it would be better to use his experience for
the report?
Using this often may give the impression that you
have little experience and the boss will not
be impressed.
If you are swamped with several other reports
you could say: I’m working on the x and y report now.
Do your want me to stop work on those reports to do
this report? Sometimes the boss may forget what you
are working on and this is just a gentle reminder of
what you are doing.
If you feel the boss would not react well to this
approach you can approach this situation
in a different way.
Say to the boss that you are working on reports x
and y, ask the boss if it would be okay to have
John help you with the report he just gave you.
You can always add that John previous work on
another similar report would be helpful. In this way,
you aren’t trying to get out of the report, just
asking for some help.
In some situations these approaches may not work.
You need to use your own judgment to see if these
will fit the situation.
Getting a little help at times can help with
Office Stress.
