How To Stop Worrying Yourself Sick
Saturday, August 30th, 2008One of the main problems that causes stress is
worrying. You get caught up in the day to day
problems but don’t let go of them . You think “if I
would have done this or that, maybe the results
would have been different”. Yes, things would
have changed, but you can’t undo what has
happened; so you keep replaying things over
and over again in your mind.
How does this change anything? It doesn’t, nothing
you think about will change what has happen. All this
worry just drains you of your energy, and never
changes anything that happened. It keeps eating
away at you, building up more stress which
only adds to your stress load.
Not only are you building up stress, but you are also
wasting time. While you are sitting there worrying,
others things get put on hold. You can’t work on
anything when you are focused on things of the past
or what could have happen.
And if you try to do something else your mind
wanders back to worrying and the work you do
will probably end up as mediocre at best.
In the end you only get your time wasted, your
energy drained and nothing to show for the effort.
So here are a few tips to help you
control your worrying.
When you make a mistake or do something wrong,
correct it immediately if you are able,
or forget about it.
Think about how it will affect things on a large scale,
put it in the proper perspective. If it is of major
importance plan how to respond to it later or if just
something minor, forget about it.
Then get to work on something else. If you find your
mind wandering back to worrying, remind yourself that
you have done what you could and focus again on
your work.
It may take several times before you are able to stop
your worrying behavior, but it will get easier.
Including plans for stopping worrying is a smart step
for a good health care program.
